On February 26 -28, 2019 a workshop dedicated to the VLAB (Virtual Laboratory) as a component of the ERA-PLANET data and model sharing infrastructure held in Florence (Italy). The Virtual Laboratory Platform (VLAB) is a tool for publishing and running scientific models for knowledge generation. From the positive experience in the H2020 ECOPOTENTIAL project, the VLAB has been proposed as one of the major building blocks for the ERA-PLANET Knowledge Platform.

The VLAB workshop is an opportunity for participants in the ERA-PLANET project, to work together on the vision and implementation of the ERA-PLANET Knowledge Platform, discussing and experimenting the functionalities and planned advancements of the VLAB.

The second meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP2) took place from 19 to 23 November 2018 at the International Conference Centre in Geneva, Switzerland.

IGOSP partners from CNR (Italy) and from Masaryk University (Chez Republic) participated in the Conference with oral presentations.

The Project Coordinator of IGOSP gave a presentation on "Knowledge Lab at COP2: what ERA-PLANET can do for Minamata Convention".

smurbs milestone meeting 2018

SMURBS ,which now traverses its 13th month of life, is currently organizing the PM1 Milestone Meeting, that will be held in Athens, Greece from 9 to 10 October 2018! The meeting will be hosted by the National Observatory of Athens and conducted in the premises of ELECTRA Metropolis Hotel.
During the meeting, SMURBS partners will deliver the major achievements of the 1st year of implementation of the project, while a thorough discussion regarding the themes (Air Quality, Disasters, Urban Growth) engaged by the project will take place.

ERA-PLANET will participate in the GEO Week 2018 which will take place in Kyoto from 29th of  October to 2nd of November 2018 in Kyoto, Japan.

This gathering of GEO’s 105 Member governments and 126 Participating Organizations will explore efforts and opportunities for the use of Earth observations for the benefit of humankind, focusing on GEO’s three priority areas: the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. ERA-PLANET will participate in the EUROGEOSS Workshop which (formerly known as the European GEO Projects’ Workshop) will take place on 12-14 September 2018 at the University of Geneva and the Museum of Ethnography. The event is co-organised by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, the European Commission with the support of the University of Geneva.

The workshop brings together European players interested in and actively contributing to the Global Earth Observations System of Systems (GEOSS). The aim is to look for synergies among the participants and to discuss how Europe can contribute to this international effort.
